Portfolio
Here are some samples of my portfolio that include academic research, dance performance and education, digital humanities and archive-making.
01
phd project @ MIT
Dancing after Decolonization examines how Black and Muslim youth in racially-surveilled neighborhoods in Brussels mobilized media technologies and popular dance cultures from the USA, born in the politics of Black and Brown liberation movements, since the 1960s. This project samples print, sonic, somatic, and digital archives and ethnographic methods to documents subaltern politics and community building.
02
Boston Hustle Collective
I humbly helped co-found the Boston Hustle Collective in 2022. Based in and around Boston, we are a collective of versatile street and club dancers that practice, teach workshops, perform and share our love for Latin Hustle with the local community. Connect to follow on Instagram.
03
Digital Humanities
I'm interested in the intersection between arts, technology, and humanities. Creating maps with GIS methods, archiving eclectic data materials and visualization are some of the technical tools I find most valuable. Image: GIS map created for a research project at MIT

Archive-making
Part of my journey as a scholar and dancer across three continents has been the beauty of documenting the eclectic atmospheres of underground dance circles. One ongoing project is documenting the history of hip hop and house dance in Boston and Belgium. Image: still, Steve Rhythm Garcia from house dance archival project in Boston
